An escorted passenger plane has landed at Manchester Airport in England following a warning of a possible device on board, Manchester police confirm to Fox News.

“An incoming plane has been escorted into the airport by the Royal Air Force as a result of information received by the pilot about a possible device on board,” Police Chief Superintendent John O'Hare said.

An airport spokesman told Reuters that the plane was operated by Qatar Airways.

"We don't know how genuine this threat is but it is absolutely vital we deal with the situation as a full emergency,” O'Hare added.

Officers are responding to the scene. One passenger was taken off the plane by police, Sky News reports.

Takeoffs and landings at the airport were temporarily suspended.
