An unmanned NASA cargo rocket bound for the International Space Station exploded Tuesday on a launchpad in Virginia.
It was not immediately clear if anyone on the ground at the Wallops Flight Facility in Wallops Island, Va., was injured.
The International Space Station said an "accident" occurred six seconds after liftoff.
NASA's official Twitter feed did not immediately mention the explosion, but said Orbital Sciences, the company that owns the Antares rocket, was "evaluating" the status of the mission.
A launch for the Antares rocket, a two-stage launch vehicle, was scrubbed Monday due to a boat being in the immediate launch area.
No other details were immediately available.
