A newly retired suburban New York police officer reportedly shot and killed his two teenage daughters and the family dog before turning the gun on himself in the garage of their home Saturday.

The New York Post reports 52-year-old Glen Hochhman, a former White Plains, N.Y. officer and his wife was having marital issues and was thinking about getting a divorce.

Police were called into the suburban home before 4:00 p.m. and found Hochman dead in the garage from a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head. The daughters, Alissa Hochman, 17, and Deanna Hochman, 13, were found dead in their bedrooms.

White Plains Police Commissioner David Chong released a statement identifying the former officer as Hochman, and called the deaths "an unfathomable tragedy."

In a statement, a Harrison school official says the deaths of students Alissa Hochman and younger sister Deanna Hochman is an "incomprehensible tragedy." He says the school would open Sunday to assist students and families.

Last May, Hochman won the department’s life-saving award from keeping an unresponsive male alive until paramedics arrived, the paper reports.
